The Lehman Brothers building at 7th Avenue and 49th St. on the day Lehman Brothers, one of America's biggest investment banks, declared bankruptcy, New York, New York, September 15, 2008. Although the United States Treasury Secretary Henry M. Paulson Jr. did encourage other financial institutions to buy Lehman Brothers, the Treasury announced no bailout would be forthcoming.
